California Hunting for Black tail Deer and Black Bear

The Cottrell Ranch, located in beautiful Northern California, covers 14,000 acres of privately owned timber and grazing land. Oak woodlands and Willow tree ditches are abundant on the ranch and are full of deer. The ranch has been family owned and operated since the 1870's. Today, fifth generation family members operate and reside on the ranch. We focus on herd management by carefully selecting which Deer to harvest. Our goal is to allow the better Bucks to grow to their full potential before harvesting them.

In addition to being a working cattle ranch, we offer unique hunting opportunities. We are committed to sound game management practices while striving to provide a high quality hunting experience for our clients.

Hunting Packages: Offered for both Blacktail Deer Hunting and Black Bear Hunting in California.

Accommodations: You will be housed in our hunting cabin. Meals are served in the dining room of the main ranch house. Modern accommodations include a heated swimming pool, hot tub and television. Bedding and linens are furnished. Alternate housing includes a quaint old homestead house.

Extras: There is an excellent opportunity for wildlife and scenic photography. Top quality taxidermy and game processing are available locally. Upon request, we provide delivery of trophies and meat to these businesses.

Private Lands Management: - Loss of habitat is the single most important challenge facing wildlife populations today. In response to this problem the Cottrell Ranch has enrolled in the California Department of Fish and Game Private Lands Management Program. We are now consulting with biologist to make biologically sound habitat improvements that will benefit wildlife, like providing new water sources, clearing oak woodlands, planting native plants for food and making brush piles for cover. Enrolling in the PLM program will help to achieve our goal to conserve and maintain our wildlife for future generations to enjoy as we do today.
